Faith Formation

Our mission in Faith Formation is to help children, youth, and their families grow in personal conversion to God, active membership in the Church, and the transformation of society. We trust that Christian Formation is not an optional church program with a beginning and an end. Lifelong faith formation is a hallmark of being a Christian. We need catechists and volunteers. Grades 1-5


We offer a weekly format for children in grades 1-5 on Sundays. Beginning in September and concluding in May. Because Mass is now part of the program we encourage parents and siblings to attend Mass with the student in our faith formation program.

Middle School Youth in grades 6-Confirmation

Our Middle School Faith Formation program, designed for students in grades 6–8, offers joyful and meaningful opportunities for young people to grow in faith, deepen their prayer life, and serve others with love. During the Advent season, students participate in Christmas caroling and visits to nursing homes, sharing the joy and hope of Christ’s birth with those who may feel forgotten or alone.

“I was sick and you visited me.” (Matthew 25:36)


Throughout Lent, our annual middle school gatherings provide a space for reflection, community, and spiritual growth, helping students walk more closely with Christ during this sacred season. “Return to me with all your heart.” (Joel 2:12)


Students are also invited to encounter the Lord in a special way through Eucharistic Adoration, where they learn the beauty of silence, prayer, and being present with Jesus. “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)


We warmly welcome all middle school youth to take part in these opportunities to grow in faith, compassion, and relationship with Christ.


Classes:


Classes meet at St. Charles Borromeo School from 7:00pm to 8:15pm on Monday nights.

Order of Christian Initiation for Children

OCIA for children is a faith formation process adopted from the adult OCIA, guiding unbaptized or un-catechized children toward full initiation into the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.


This is for children over the age of reason (generally age 7) who wish to become Catholic, baptized children with little catechetical formation who need instruction of faith and children baptized into another Christian faith seeking full communion with the Catholic Church. Parents and guardians are encouraged to actively participate, supporting their child's faith journey.

Order of Christian Initiation of Adult

OCIA is a process of study, exploration, faith-sharing, and faith formation with specific liturgical rites for seekers and inquirers. Seekers and inquirers are non-baptized adults who desire to be fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Church and/or baptized adult Christians who desire full communion in the Roman Catholic Church.


During this process, which is marked by regular ritual acts, participants are introduced to the liturgy, the teachings, and the life of the Catholic Church.


Adults or older children who were baptized in another Christian denomination prepare in a similar way for the sacraments of Confirmation and the Eucharist during their reception into the Catholic Church.
