Mrs. Lety Gutierrez-Kenny
Youth & Young Adult Coordinator for St. Roman & St. Charles Borrromeo
Since: July 2017
Greetings! I am very excited to be a part of the staff here at St. Charles Borromeo and St. Roman parishes and begin a collaborative Youth and Young Adult Ministry. For the past 10 years I have helped develop and oversaw a Collaborative Christian Formation Program for two parishes in Racine; for 7 years I was the Director of Child Ministry and the last three years I was Director of Youth Ministry in this collaborative program.
I grew up on the southside of Milwaukee near 21st and Mitchell Street. My parents moved to 6th and Grange Ave just over 10 years ago. I’m glad to be working close by to them. My husband David and I have been married for 16 years and are currently living in Racine, but are in Milwaukee most weekends. We currently have a 7month old foster child that we care for and God-willing may be able to adopt by the end of the year.
I have been looking over the programs that have been in place at both St. Charles and St. Roman to see what are good ways to bring the two youth ministry programs together. I am happy to have both Kathy Krol and Elizabeth Melendez-Jop to assist me in this transition. I am looking forward to working with the teens and young adults from both parishes to help them encounter Christ and not only develop a relationship with Him, but also that the young people see themselves as disciples of Christ. It is my hope that through our ministry together, young people will become more involved with the parish communities. Pope Francis said at the Vigil Celebration at World Youth Day 2013 in Brazil “ Dear Young people, please don’t be observers of life, but get involved!” it is my hope that through this collaborative Youth and Young adult ministries that there will be many opportunities for the youth to be involved in both parish life and their own faith journeys.
I look forward to meeting all of you!
Christ’s peace be with you always!
