Volunteer Recognition

Cameo asked all parents that volunteer on a regular weekly basis to please stand for recognition.

Review of volunteers still needed for Catholic Schools Week:

Host families for tours are also needed. 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Feb 9^th  Beach and luau theme dance for the adults.  Donations still needed

March 17^th Culvers Day

April (TBD) Parish rummage sale. Funds going to Home & School, St. Vincent DePaul  (no computers, exercise equipment or weapons!!)

April 24^th 1:30  Brewer game for the kids that sold the extra candy.  Parents and students will ride the bus together.

LUNCH CASHIER SYSTEM PRESENTATION:

This program has been funded by a grant and will provide accurate tracking for reimbursement agencies. Word wear software will track.  Detailed description of the system will come later.  Don’t buy lunch tickets to last the whole year. 

STAFFING CHANGES:

Due to Sonia’s retirement, the following staffing changes will take place: 

Mrs. Balistrerie will be the interim assistant administrator.  We will begin to look for a regular replacement in the spring with hopes of hiring at the end of the year.  There will be one teacher and one parent on the committee.

Mrs. Beecher will take over Cindy’s position and again, a regular replacement will be sought out in the spring Mrs. Beecher will work approximately 20-25 hours per week.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM CHANGES:

Volunteering is currently at an all time low!  SAC has developed a new program to be implemented with the 08-09 school year.  A query was done to see what was done at other area schools.  6 of 9 have attached a monetary value to volunteering. The new program involves a $100 deposit being paid along with your tuition.  You will receive that money back when you volunteer 20 hours of time throughout the school year AND complete at least one 2 hours shift working at the kids games at the festival. This will begin with the 2008 festival.  150 spots need to be filled by the parents.  The only exceptions are choice families (but they can still certainly volunteer) or if you are out of town for the ENTIRE time the festival is taking place.

The tracking system for this will be similar to what we do now with the blue slips but it will be modified slightly.

YOU CAN BYPASS THE $100 DEPOSIT BY VOLUNTEERING FOR A BOARD POSITION

NEED BOARD MEMBERS

We are currently in need of new board members for the home and school association.  All the current members will be done after this school year.  Jan Drzewiecki did a review of all the positions.  The candidates will be announced at the April meeting with a vote to follow.  Please consider this calling to help your school.

Treasury report given by Dennis Wimmer: $16,000 in the black so far with a goal of $50-$55,000 Candy sale funds report shows that 15 families have not turned in money yet. 63 families have sold extra cases and will participate in attending the Brewer game, which was the incentive for extra sales.

12 families currently have over $200 in SCRIP profit. There is over $2500 in profit to the Home & School so far.

Entertainment book sale still needs to be finalized. Sales to date were approximately ½ of the previous year.

Vending machines currently show a -249.65 balance so because of the initial inventory purchases.

Cameo read the function of the Home & School committee, so that it is clear to parents. We are basically a fundraising liaison between the school and church. We also set up a number of meetings with the parents and the school during the year with possible guest speakers and we also set up Fun Day at the end of the school year.

Cameo also read a number of possible fundraising opportunities that will occur this school year. Some of which are a possible golf outing, rummage sale and flower sale.

The meeting continued with a web-grader presentation and instruction by Cheryl Sanford and Kim Martinez.

Approval of February Minutes

Principals Report:

• Budget work has been completed with a projected increase of 2%. The budget was based on an estimated enrollment of 305.
• Our future grant writing will focus on the arts
• We will trial recess before lunch in the 4 th quarter

Committee Reports:

• Volunteer Committee: No report
• Grant Committee: Letter for Project Lead the Way is being revised and has not gone out to date. Walk-A-Thon funds from this year should complete the computer lab funding.
• Marketing Committee: Fifty people attended our preschool play group, including 6 prospective families. We had positive feedback and are pleased with the results. The middle school introduction for current and prospective 4 th and 5 th grade students will be held on April 23rd. It will be advertised via e-mail, bulletins, announcements and the web site. The state of the school report is being planned and will be given at the home and school meeting. Discussion held on events or activities to boost attendance.
• New Families: We will need a new committee chair for next year.

Liaison Reports:

• Home and School: The pocked peeler fund raiser is wrapping up. Our approximate profit will be $2000. We are going ahead with the spring flower sale. The tuition raffle is coming up soon. We are still collecting print cartridges, and are considering an aluminum can collection.
• Athletics: The basketball season is over except for the Padre Serra tournament. We are working on dates for pictures and the banquet. We will remain in the CYFL league for football. Additional teams have joined the league. The soccer season begins on March 14 th and the games will begin in April.
• Parish Council: No report

• No meeting in April due to Holy week and spring break.
• Nothing to report from the suggestionbox.

Approval of December Minutes

Principals Report:

• Compared registration fees to other schools in our district. It was discussed and voted on to have our re-registration fee for current families to stay at $50.00, and our fee for new registration changed to $100.00.
• Home and School is considering running an aluminum can recycling fund raiser.
• E-mail addresses have been entered in the computer to send an invitation for the open house to current school families.
• Discussion on numbers for choice enrollment.
• Over 3700 books were collected from the book drive. There will be a training session for preparing the books for shelving on the 15 th.

Committee Reports:

• Volunteer Committee: Volunteer forms have been coming in. Phone calls will be made to families who have not fulfilled their volunteer commitments.
• Grant Committee: Looking for assistance in grant writing. Have not found a technology partner to date.
• Marketing Committee: Open house planning is in full swing. Bulletin announcements have been sent to various parishes. The e-mail invite to to current families is ready to go. We have purchased a media contact list for newspaper, radio and TV for press releases and promotions. Yard signs will be picked up this week. Note card or post card invitations will be sent to religious education families. Fliers will be sent to area preschools. The open house will be advertised on the sign on the corner. The contents for the folder have been updated and finalized. Still working on banner. Information has been updated on the website. There will be parent/student readers for the masses on the 28 th and 29 th. Balloons will be handed out to prospective families. A flier or envelope stuffer advertising the targeted K4/K5 open house will be handed out and included in the information packets. Still checking into dates for the middle school open house.
• New Families: No updates

Liaison Reports:

Home and School: Meeting will be held tomorrow. It should last an hour. Sign up sheets for the dance will be out at the meeting. We will have the tuition raffle in March. Home and school will help with the teacher’s luncheon for Catholic Schools week.

• Athletics: The 6 th grade girl’s tournament was cancelled due to lack of teams. Pizza sale forms are due next week. Need volunteers to assemble the pizzas. Spring registration will be out next week. No decisions have been made on the football league for next year. New basketballs have been ordered. New light bulbs have been installed in the gym. Nominations for vice president and treasurershould be submitted to the election committee.
• Parish Council: Results from parish survey were shared.
