FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q.

We want to enroll our children.  What do we do next?

A.

Welcome to the St. Roman family!  Your next step is to complete the New Family Application.  Please stop by or call the school office for a form (282-7970).  A registration fee is required.

Q.

Do you offer “special” classes?

A.

Yes, in addition to our standard curriculum, children also have physical education, art, music, and computer classes.  Please see the enclosed insert for more information.

Q.

What is your disciplinary program?

A.

At St. Roman Parish School, we believe that the primary responsibility for the development of the values of Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility rests with our parents, the primary educators of their children.  At the school, in cooperation with the parents, we believe in the importance of an integrated faith-based and values driven learning environment so that all of the members of our school community can have a safe and productive place to teach and learn.

To ensure that all of our students are allowed to do their personal best everyday, they are expected to develop, with age and maturity, the three important areas of Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility:  The Roman R’s.

To aid in communication and collaborative partnership, a report slip is sent home with your child if he/she engages in misbehavior which does not show Reverence, Respect, and Responsibility.  The report slip requires a parent/guardian’s signature and returned to school the following day.  Further consequences and plans for continued behaviors are discussed with the child, his/her parent/guardian, and if necessary the principal.  More details are outlined in our School Handbook; for more information, please contact the principal.

Q.

Q.

Do you have after school care?

A.

Yes, extended school care is provided for parents who work late and may not be able to pick up their child(ren) at dismissal.  Program hours are 3:00 PM to 5:30PM.

Q.

How often do children go to Mass?

A.

We celebrate all-school Mass twice per month and also by levels (1-5 and 6-8) an additional once per month.

Q.

Do you have full day or half day kindergarten?

A.

Both our K4 and K5 programs are full day.  Our developmental approach to early childhood education allows for creative and social interaction experiences, afternoon rest time, and other exploratory learning experiences which would not fit into a half day program.

Q.

Do the students have a dress code?

A.

Yes, the students wear uniforms.   For special “non-uniform” days and events (i.e. graduation), a dress code is enforced.

Q.

How often are report cards issued?

A.

Milwaukee Archdiocesan standard based report cards are issued four times a year in order to inform parents of the student’s academic achievement as well as their social and emotional growth.  Progress reports will be given in the middle of the marking periods for all students.

A.

In spring, the complete battery of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills is administered in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
