Welcome to St. Roman Parish via the WEB!

Isn’t it just amazing how we can share information electronically with you about our
St. Roman Parish?
Let me begin by saying that it is nice to meet you. We are a community of about 1800 households on the southern edge of the city of Milwaukee cut into sections by three interstate highways (I-94, I-43 and I-894). Yet with all that traffic, we are nestled into a quiet residential neighborhood.
Our parish has been here for more than a half century. We are much like other parishes with a school and a myriad of ministries and activities. We have a full-blown Mission Statement but simply stated I believe the purpose of St. Roman Parish is “to feed the hungry.” Whether it be a hunger for spirituality, education, community, sacraments, justice, or food, we try to nourish for all.

Of course, every parish is known for a few special activities.  St. Roman is recognized for our School, our Festivals of Faith religious education process, our Teen Work-Camp, our Food Pantry and our annual 4-day Father’s Day Festival.
Our school is noted for academic excellence as exemplified in being one of the very few elementary schools to have ‘Project Lead The Way’ a math/computer curriculum linked to engineering. Our Festivals of Faith is a family and intergenerational formation process where the entire parish is invited for growth together during several weekends a year.
Our Teen Work-Camp is an annual summer experience for over 70 of our teens and adult advisors to travel to a depressed area outside Wisconsin and manually labor for one week in that community – it is quite the conversion experience.
Our food  pantry has continued to serve an ever-increasing population with the ever-increasing generosity of the parishioners for three of our area’s zip codes .
Finally, Our festival on Fathers’ Day Weekend is considered one of the best – if not the best (according to Shepherd Express “Best In Milwaukee”– parish fest in the City of Fests ) .

Our Parish does not stand-alone but has become a part of the Southeast Covenanted Communities and the Tri-Parish Cluster. The Southeast Covenanted Communities is an association of 14 Christian faith communities (Lutheran, Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, Church of Christ and Catholic) and the Islamic Center committed “to the exercise of understanding, cooperation, and growth in unity through faith.”
The Tri-Parish Cluster is a collaborative effort among three Catholic Parishes: St. James, St. Charles Borromeo and St. Roman.
We are working to share resources and opportunities for our parishioners through joint projects and ministries.

Thanks for connecting with us and hope to see you in the not too distant future.
I am yours In Christ,

Fr,Bill
